Before and after ……
Jonathan had his first hair cut today. Chinese New Year is around the corner so I better bring him to the saloon before they increased the price.
This is my first time handling a baby for hair cut so it got so messy. I was carrying Jonathan while the hairdresser trimmed his hair and so the hair landed on my shoulder. With Jonathan turning his head left and right, the hair sticked to his face and body. Then he draw his fist near his mouth and started sucking his fingers so the hair got into his mouth. Alamak!
He looks so boyish with the new hairstyle. I still prefer his old hairstyle.

Praise the Lord! Jonathan is growing well although he still spit up milk at times. This is Jonathan’s growth so far:
Birth
Weight: 3.99kg
Height: 53cm
Head Cir.: 34cm
1 Month
Weight: 4.3kg
Height: 56cm
Head Cir.: 36cm
2 Months
Weight: 5.8kg
Height: 60cm
Head Cir.: 40cm
3 Months
Weight: 7.1kg
Height: 63cm
Head Cir.: 41cm
In between 2 to 3 months, Jonathan is able to laugh and he likes to smile with mouth open wide. He will then hide his face shyly. He started to lift up his head at the age of 1 month and now he can do mini push-up steadily. When he is angry, he tend to push himself forward. He can grasp his soft toys now. He is learning to turn too. And I think soon he will learn to crawl. He’s becoming more observant now. His head and eyes will turn to follow wherever I go. He’s a big eater until his Paediatrician, Dr. Lee advised us to watch his weight. Well, it could be genetic as Darling and I were both a heavy baby.
Oh, my little baby boy is still an impatient cry baby. When he is hungry, sleepy or not in the mood, he wouldn’t allow you to lie him down. Worse now, he is so used to sleeping on his tummy until he is not able to fall asleep on his back and starts to fuss.
We brought Jonathan for immunization yesterday. He almost wanted to cry by showing his “tut tut” (sharp) mouth but I quickly pampered him. You just can’t imagine how loud is his cry if he really cried it out.

Our Jonathan boy is 2 months old today. He has grown taller and heavier since birth. His birth weight was 3.99kg and 53cm tall. Due to pyloric stenosis which he suffered when he was 2 weeks old, he only gained 0.3kg after 1 month. But praise and give thanks to our Lord that Jonathan is now weighing 5.8kg and 60cm tall. We also want to thank Jonathan’s surgeon, Dr. Goon for his passion and gentleness. May God bless you!
Baby Jonathan is really a big eater that needs to be fed every 2 hours. I’m glad he is consuming the milk well now. He is a baby that requires comfort. He likes being hug and sway to sleep. I know I already created a habit in him but I don’t mind to give him the comfort as long as he feels the peace. I just like to have him resting his head on my shoulder and chest while snoozing off.
You need patience to take care of Baby Jonathan. He is a rather impatient baby. The moment he wakes up for the next feed, he will not allow you to bath him, change him and even play with him but will start crying for milk. But once he is satisfied after feeding, you can do anything to him. His smiles and cooing will melt your heart. He started to smile and coo when he was just 1 month old. He will do that when you (especially children) talk to him and when looking at the musical mobile hanging on top of him. At times, if you walk away, he will start crying for attention. When you talk to him again, he begins to smile and coo again.
That’s my baby and I’m happy for that. Amen!
I shall be back to work on Monday. I takes care of Jonathan all on my own during the past two months, so he is quite sticky to me. I hope Jonathan will behave well under the care of my MIL when I’m at work. MIL have to cook and do house chores so she can spend most of her time with Jonathan. I also hope Darling can leave work on time so that I can play with Jonathan before he sleeps.

Since birth, Jonathan has to wear mittens and booties so that he won’t scratch himself as his finger nails are long (not allowed to trim until full month). Yesterday, sis helped to trim his nails so we stop putting on mittens for him.
I was putting on clothes for Jonathan this morning after his morning bath. He quietly let me handle him but out of a sudden, he cried so loud. I thought I hurt him somewhere but when I looked up at him, his fingers was pulling his hair so tightly. I quickly released his fingers. Poor boy…

Baby Jonathan turns one month old today. During the past two weeks, it was a period where God had tested our faith and endurance.
Today, I give thanks to our loving Lord for Jonathan’s boldness and courage during his time of sickness. Because of Him, we have today. AMEN!

Baby Jonathan and I were discharged from hospital on the 4th day. I was so happy that finally I can cuddle Jonathan in my arms and see his adorable face anytime I want. On the other side, I was fully prepared for all the challenges of baby care that I may not forsee. Even the nurses who were caring for Jonathan while in the hospital commented that Jonathan is quite impatient and often cries especially at night. These are quite common in babies.
Baby Jonathan is 12 days old now. I am coping very well in this new role as a mother to a rather impatient baby. 🙂 As I take care of Jonathan each day, gladness and joy filled my heart more and more. It is because I am so blessed by people around me that extended their helping hand and advices. Jonathan is also so blessed to have people around him that adores him so much.
Our God…for listening to our prayers and blessed us with such a complete creation.
My husband…Thank you Darling for all the love, care, sacrifices and patience from our very first day till Jonathan is in our midst. You are doing great. God is with us. We love you!
My parents…who has spent so much for Jonathan and I with all the poultry and herbs. Whenever they come down to KL from Sitiawan, my dad’s car will be fully loaded with things.
My mother-in-law…who looks after my confinement – a great cook. She always expect me to eat big portion…sigh
My sisters…experienced mothers who provides baby care advices for modern moms. One of my sis is living next door to me so you can see the conveniences. They adore little Jonathan so much. Jonathan is so blessed to have so many Ah Yi.
My CG members…who has been praying for our family planning, my pregnancy and Jonathan’s birth. Thank you for their continuous prayers and support.

Let me share about the birth of our baby, Jonathan.
After waited for 5 days, there was no sign of labour so as scheduled, I admitted myself on Monday morning for induce. As my gynae broke the water bag ready for induction, he noticed baby’s feaces and immediately arrange for a C-section. As explained by our gynae, it will take a long time for baby to be delivered as I was only 2cm dilated and baby’s head is still high up. By waiting, it will only stress out the baby. I was quite disappointed upon hearing that as I really wanted to go through the real labour and experience the pain every mothers had. I was so sorry to Darling that he missed the opportunity of cutting baby’s umbilical cord and holding our baby immediately after birth. However, we trust the doctor’s expertise and surrender everything to God.
Indeed God is gracious! The C-section went on well. I was fully awake during the whole operation. I got to feel and enjoy the moment doctor pull baby Jonathan out from my stomach. In fact doctor exclaimed that he is a big baby and no wonder he refused to come out. I never regret the C-section after that. Like in natural birth, the feeling when baby slip out from the birth canal is the same as when doctor pull Jonathan out from my stomach. Like in natural birth, the pain of contraction is the same as the pain after C-section.
Despite all the pains, seeing Jonathan and holding him in my arms make all pains bearable. He gave me the will and courage to lift myself up from the hospital bed so that I can carry and pamper him close to my heart.

Yup.. the day we’ve been waiting for.. it is finally here. Clocked in at 9:29AM on 8 Oct 2007, the handsome young chap awed the world… (ok, maybe just people we know).. Weighted at 3.99kg, and 53cm tall, he is the biggest baby among all newborn that day at the same hospital. Mommy weighted more when she was born… so, it was no surprise to us.. hehe. Baby was born via cesarean due to complication when the membrane burst. It was like the baby pass motion and doc advised that we should go through that procedure.
We’ve decided that he shall be called Jonathan.. full name in Chinese has yet to be finalized. For now, he is to be called Jonathan Sia.
Darling still recuperating in the hospital. Doc says might be able to discharge tomorrow afternoon. Let’s see how is it. She has been very strong going through all these.
Cutting the story short, here are some photos of our baby boy…
Click on the photo for larger view.
Video Presentation also available.. (have to be a bit kiasu)
Let all praises and glory be given to God for it is He who made this possible. It is His wonderful gift to us.
